Founded in 1985, GMCS exists to provide in-house education courses and written material in production, purchasing, six sigma and inventory control and warehouse operations, and to further the understanding and adoption of modern techniques in these areas. The core of the companys interests and expertise lies in the standard courses, workshops and training notes/materials described at this website.

Faculty of Instructing Associates

To ensure that its many customers receive the finest advice and tuition from acknowledged experts of long experience, a Faculty of Instructing Associates has been formed which is responsible with GMCS and its resident Principal Instructor, David Crabtree, for the presentation of the external and in-house education programmes. Instructing associates in all cases are senior members of their own companies. So although course organisation, content and administration are central responsibilities, course presentations themselves are made by the Principal Instructor and members of the Faculty of Instructing Associates. GMCS collaborates closely with its Faculty to ensure an even and excellent standard in all presentations.

Training Notes/Manuals

Each training course or workship given by GMCS is accompanied by a full text, fully illustrated manual of notes intended to assist the delegate during the training day and to act as a reference for many years after the event. Since April 2006, it has been the policy of the company to sell copies of the training material by post to non-attendees of the courses, so that cost and time of actual course attendance can be avoided.

Glossary

GMCS maintains the most comprehensive English language glossary of manufacturing terms on the Internet, available without restriction to all. The glossary also details the contents of the 930 page book 'The Manufacturing Manager', compiled by the company's principal instructor, David Crabtree. Conferences

Conferences are an important part of the UK industrial scene for the exchange of views and up-to-the-minute information. GMCS is pleased to play its proper part in arranging these events, held from time-to-time at prime locations throughout the country.

Consultancy

Through its instructors, GMCS itself provides short-term consultancy in the specialist areas of manufacturing control, master planning, logistics, and ancillary areas covered on this web site. Assignments normally take the form of one or two-day investigations, resulting in a written report and recommendations for action. Instructing associates may also take on assignments of any duration in private arrangements outside GMCS as members of their own companies.
